Amazon.in has revealed its creation of over 90,000 seasonal employment opportunities during the festive season, spanning its fulfilment centers, sortation centers, delivery stations, partner fulfilment network, and customer service sites. This substantial expansion in workforce capacity is aimed at enhancing the customer experience and strengthening delivery capabilities to accommodate the rising influx of customer orders anticipated during the upcoming festive season.

These seasonal positions have been established in numerous cities across India, including Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Pune, and more. In addition to these roles, Amazon India has indirectly generated tens of thousands of other opportunities through its fulfilment partner networks, such as trucking partners, packaging vendors, ‘I Have Space’ delivery partners, and housekeeping agencies, to meet the soaring demand during this period.

Akhil Saxena, Vice President – Customer Fulfilment, Amazon India, expressed the company’s commitment to providing a seamless shopping experience, stating, “In our effort to provide a seamless shopping experience, we are excited to announce that we have created opportunities for more than 90,000 seasonal associates across our fulfilment network and customer service sites ahead of the festive season. This year we have created opportunities for close to double the number of seasonal associates compared to the last festive season. This remarkable increase will be instrumental in driving an exceptional customer experience during the upcoming ‘The Great Indian Festive’ Sale. These seasonal associates will augment our capabilities to serve our customers better and ensure faster deliveries across the country.”

The seasonal associates will join the existing workforce across Amazon.in’s fulfilment network to assist in picking, packing, shipping, and delivering customer orders more efficiently. Amazon.in currently operates 15 Customer Service sites across 11 cities, offering pre-and post-order customer services through various channels, including email, chat, social media, and phone, in multiple languages such as Kannada, English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

In preparation for the festive season, Amazon.in has significantly expanded its fulfilment, middle mile, and delivery network. The company recently launched two large fulfilment centers in West Bengal and Maharashtra, marking its largest FCs in these states. With over 26 million cubic feet of storage space available for seller inventory this year, the company has expanded its Line Haul network, with nearly 10,000 trucks on the road each day, connecting more than 1,000 cities, representing a twofold increase in road connectivity compared to the previous year. Furthermore, Amazon has doubled its Delivery Service Partner network presence, with more than 1,400 delivery stations now operating across 750 cities.
